With display representations you can set up multiple paperspace Really though if you are using ADT you have one additional reason to use This topic tends to bring out the militants from both camps so I am sure you One area to do a quick search is the cad managers newsgroup. There are a ton of discussions in the newsgroups pro and con for using I have not stepped up on my soapbox for a while so what the heck. I realize this doesn't help to give you ammunition, just trying to give you (actually, we _can_ do all the stuff that we utilize just fine in modelspace and besides, we can accomplish all that paperspace stuff using xref's and See any huge benefits to switching from the way everyone is comfortableĭoing things here, just because "it's the way to go". There's several of us who do know how to get around in it, but still don't This office (yes, that means 99.9% of our consultants also use modelspace),īut when we do there's a good chance that the person receiving that dwg fileĭoesn't know how to work with paperspace, thus causing the complications. Very seldomly here do we even receive paperspace dwgs from outside You think about it (I've seen the same thing occur here) Your company's reasonings for not wanting to switch are accurate however, if (all disciplines, all offices) uses modelspace for all of it's acad dwgs. ![]() I've worked in this archie office for over 12 years. we must be in a part of the universe that's "unknown" then -) ![]() I need some ammunition to make a case to this office at a staff meeting later this month to use paperspace. They clip xrefs as needed and tell me that they can pretty much do everything in modelspace. So they continue to create an xref for the drawing itself and another layout sheet file using only modelspace (and adjusting the scale as xrefs are attached). The practice that I work for has seen fit to work only in modelspace and is resisting going to paperspace because for one, they are not accustomed to it, and two, because they think it creates complications. For me it is the simplicity of the concept of dividing the actual live on-going drawing from the 'plotting' or 'printing' sheet, that I like. And like the rest of the known universe that uses Autodesk/AutoCAD products for architecture, I am used to, and see the benefit of using paper space. We use Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3. I am currently trying to convince my office to use paper space having recently joined this 40 year old firm. ![]()
